Julie London - Calendar Girl

 Julie London - Calendar Girl

" Studio album by American actress and singer Julie London. For her, it became the third one recorded and released in one year. This is also the third album produced by Bobby Troup, an actor, pianist, songwriter, and author of the “Route 66” standard, well known to all music lovers.
Troup not only became fascinated by this pretty actress with incredibly polished appearance, but also decided to promote her to the fullest - only in the musical field. And the first swallow was “Cry Me a River”, which Julie, one might say, brazenly gnawed from the “mother of jazz” herself, Ella Fitzgerald. The success was immediate. This super-successful single was followed by three albums at once.

Compared to its two predecessors, this album is not just a collection of pop-jazz standards. It can be said to be conceptual, dedicated to all 12 months of the year, starting from the bright cover, for which Julie starred in 12 excitingly sexy pin-up images corresponding to each month, ending with the routine and theme of the songs themselves, in each of which Julie with her signature insinuating mannerly tells his “story of the month” about another man who conquered... and broke her fragile amorous heart...

Many listeners will probably be puzzled by the question: since there are 12 months in a year, where did the 13th song come from? And Julie dedicates it to the “13th month” - each of us has our own, the most cherished and beloved, whose days it is nice to extend for at least another 30 days. Alas and ah, but this is not in our power..."
